Moving Appliances
Washers
Washing machines must be serviced by an authorized repair
company. Motors should be checked and secured, tumbler
action protected and fastened in place.
Dryers (Gas or Electric)
Motors may need to be checked and secured. Check with your
appliance service company.
Refrigerators
Before your move, completely defrost and dry your refrigerator.
The doors need to be left open several hours to air it
out. All pans, trays, crispers, shelves and removable parts
should be removed. It is best to contact your appliance
service company; motor may been to be bolted down before moving
and if so, should not be plugged in at your new home until
it has been unbolted.
Stoves
Disconnect prior to move. Be sure gas lines are shut tightly
and capped. Remove coils and all other removable parts
on electic ranges.
Freezers
Freezers must be completely defrosted 1-2 days before your move. To avoid a musty
odor, completely dry and air out your freezer. The motor may need to be bolted,
so be sure to check with your appliance service company. Prior to your move,
empty your freezer and plan meals that will use the contents - safety of contents
are not guaranteed.
Televisions
Some TVs need to be checked before and after moving. Be sure
to remove antenna, unhook all components, such as DVDs
and VCRs, and put the remote control where you will be
able to find it easily.
Air Conditioners
Some sealed units should be bolted down. To be safe, consult your authorized
dealer or service company regarding your air conditioner model.
Sewing Machines
Sewing machines do not need special servicing for a move.
